A brief history of our current subsidiaries follows.
1979 – Tosoh USA, Inc. was established as a distributor of commodity chemicals manufactured by the Tosoh Group. The company is located in Ohio.
1984 – Nippon Silica Glass was acquired and later renamed Tosoh SGM USA, Inc. The company sells silica glass products and is located in New Jersey.
1987 – Tosoh Bioscience, LLC emerged from Tosoh's joint venture with Rohm & Haas which was named TosoHaas following Rohm & Haas's exit from the business. The company markets and sells bio-processing materials and equipment used in the pharmaceutical industry. The company is located in Pennsylvania.
1988 – Tosoh purchased the sputtering target business of Varian Corporation and renamed Tosoh SMD, Inc. The company produces thin film material used in the semiconductor and solar industries. The company is located in Ohio.
1989 – Tosoh Bioscience, Inc. was established to sell medical diagnostic instruments and reagents. The company is located in California.
1992 – Nippon Silica Glass Europe, Ltd was acquired and later renamed Tosoh Quartz Inc. - Durham. the company manufactured and sold quartz products, and in 2004 became a division of Tosoh Quartz, Inc. which is located in Oregon.
1993 – Tosoh acquired Weiss Scientific and later renamed Tosoh Quartz Inc. The company manufactures and sells quartz products. The company is located in Oregon.
1995 – Tosoh SMD, Inc. founded Tosoh SMD Korea, Ltd. as a subsidiary in South Korea to manufacture and sell thin film materials in South Korea.
1997 – Tosoh SMD, Inc. established Tosoh SMD Taiwan, Ltd. as a subsidiary in Taiwan to sell sputtering targets in that country.
2008 – Tosoh Specialty Chemicals USA, Inc. was established to sell commodity chemicals manufactured by the Tosoh Group. The company is located in Georgia.
